DeepLife Hackathon - Heidelberg 1st June - 5th June 2026

Our final Workshop will take place in Heidelberg from Monday 1st June until Friday 5th June!! Looking forward welcoming you in Heidelberg to finalize the projects.

Concept

The final workshop will be a mix of

  • lectures intended to deepen the concepts discussed during the journal club;
  • lab sessions related to the lectures;
  • Hackathon sessions, during which the groups of students can finalize their projects

During the Hackathon, the teams which have worked on the same project will work together to discuss and compare their results, and run their model on a new testing data. In addition, the teams will prepare a final presentation which will take place on Friday morning of the closing day.

Lectures

Lectures will be given by

  • David Hoksza & Marian Novotny (Charles University Prag)
  • Grégoire Sergeant-Perthuis (Sorbonne University Paris)
  • Michael Jendrusch (German Cancer Research Center - Heidelberg)

Venue

The Workshop will be held at the Heidelberg Youth Hostel. Double rooms have been booked for the incoming students. We will have a lecture hall and rooms to work in smaller groups. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be held at the youth hostel.

Schedule

The Workshop will start at 3pm on Monday, 1st June in the Meeting Room Heidelberg 1. Room check-in can be done starting 1pm at the entrance desk of the Youth hostel.

We will have a guest lecture by Dr. Fabio Lolicato from the Center for Biochemistry of Heidelberg University ‘The Synergistic Interplay of Protein–Lipid Interactions in Cellular Membrane Remodeling’ (5 pm Monday)

Coming to Heidelberg

  • Heidelberg is ~3 hours by TGV/ICE from Paris (via Mannheim or Karlsruhe)
  • for those coming by place, Frankfurt Airport is the closest airport; Heidelberg can be reached by train in ~1 hour.
